Mrs. Walter Howard of Winterset died at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines Tuesday morning after several months of failing health. She was 46 years of age.

Mrs. Howard lived all her life in this county. She was the former Vada Armstrong, daughter of George and Olive Armstrong, and she was born in this county Oct. 11, 1899. She was married to Walter Howard in Winterset on Dec. 2, 1916. They lived for many years on a farm north of Peru, then spent two years in Peru. For the past four years their home had been in Winterset.

Mrs. Howard became ill this spring, and entered the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines on May 7, where she underwent an operation.

She is survived by her husband; three sons, Norman Howard of Peru, Richard Howard of Stuart, and Fred Howard of Seattle, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Albert Koehler, and Frances Howard of Winterset; and seven brothers and sisters, Lester Armstrong of Omaha, John, Loren, Asa and Laura Armstrong and Mrs. S. L. Morgan of this county, and Mrs. Harley Ogburn of Marshall, Tex.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
