FRED A. BOBST - Fatal Farm Accident

Fred A. Bobst, a well known farmer in the St. Charles community, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1971, at his farm home north of St. Charles, from injuries received in an accident there while operating a farm tractor. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. Bobst had engaged in farming north of St. Charles since March of 1927. He was a native of Alexander, Iowa, where he was born April 3, 1896, a son of Paul and Mary Ferneau Bobst. He was married Sept. 3, 1918,at Alexander to Anna K. Nelson, who survives him.

Mr. Bobst was active in the affairs of his community over a long period of years. He was a past president of the St. Charles school board, a South township trustee, and a trustee of Blair Chapel church. He was a member of the Madison county Farm Bureau, of Matura, and the United Methodist church of St. Charles.

Mr. Bobst was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Robert Bobst of Earlham and Paul Bobst of St. Charles; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Dora Borland and a brother, Albert Bobst, both of Hampton; and one half brother and five half sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday from the United Methodist church of St. Charles, conducted by the Rev. William Andre. Burial was made in Blair Chapel cemetery.
