Earlham Echo - Thursday, June 6, 1946

Rena Peterson, daughter of Peter and Hannah Chriss was born in Denmark, August 20th, 1866 and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. D. Jackson, May 29th at the age of 79 years, nine months and nine days.

At the age of four years, she came with her parents to America, locating in Jasper county, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood.

On September 22nd, 1886, she was married to Hans J. Peterson of Kellogg, Iowa.

To this union were born seven children, two sons dying in infancy.

In the year 1894 they moved to Earlham and since then have lived in or near Earlham.

Her husband preceded her in death in the year 1940.

She leaves to mourn her loss five children, Mrs. Gertrude Jackson of Earlham; Charles Peterson of Carlisle, Iowa; Mrs. Stella Burch of Winterset; Walter Peterson of Kellogg, Idaho; and Frank Peterson of Rippey, Iowa.

Two sisters Mrs. Hans Rasmussen and Mrs. Mary Pickens of Newton, Iowa, and a brother William Chriss of Centerville, Iowa. Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors.

Services were held at 2 o'clock Saturday in the Presbyterian church conducted by the pastor Rev. S. R. Overholser assisted by Rev. Peter Bock. Burial in the Earlham cemetery.
