OBITUARY

William J. Eisele was born in Bureau county, Illinois, on May 10, 1866. He was the last remaining child of a family of seven born to Andrew and Philipina Eisele. When a lad he moved to Powesheik county, Iowa, with his parents where he grew to manhood and farmed with his father.

On September 25th, 1888 he married Minnie Jantzen and to that union three children were born. Walter of Stuart; Fred of Long Beach, California, and Edna (Mrs. Ross Moore) of Earlham, who remain to cherish the memory of a kind father.

Mr. and Mrs. Eisele moved with their family to Madison county, Iowa in the spring of 1899 and farmed what is now the Henry Thomsen farm southeast of Earlham. Besides his farming operations he engaged in the livestock buying business and soon became a well known and respected figure in a wide area of friends. The Eiseles were industrious and diligent and their hospitality and neighborliness were known to the whole community.

Owing to Mrs. Eisele's failing health they moved to Earlham and established a home there in 1918, but their happy companionship was broken by the passing of Mrs. Eisele on November 2, 1924 after several years of suffering from illness.

In 1928 Mr. Eisele married Ida Mae Herbison, and during fourteen of their declining years they shared life together till death called Mrs. Eisele on May 28, 1942.

William Eisele was reared in the Lutheran faith and on coming to Earlham generously gave his help to the Presbyterian church and was on the building committee when the present edifice was erected. He was a member of the Masonic lodge. During the last few years he had been in very poor health, but was cheery and grateful and even when adversity came he did not complain. He passed away at West Des Moines, November 4th, 1944, aged 78 years, five months and 25 days.

His many friends will miss him and extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.

Services were conducted from the Presbyterian church by the pastor S. R. Overholser, Monday afternoon.
