Edwin G. Rickets, a well known resident of the Barney neighborhood, died at the Winterset hospital Tuesday after a fatal illness of three weeks. He was 68 years of age.

Mr. Rickets was a native of Polk county, where he was born on July 21, 1873, the son of Will and Sarah Rickets. When he was a small child his parents moved to Shelbyville, Ind., where he lived until he was 15 years old. The family then returned to Iowa and settled in Madison county, which had since been his home.

He was married to Nora Isabel Gibbons on Sept. 17, 1899. They were the parents of three sons and one daughter. One son, Fred, preceded the father in death in 1933.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Eldon and Floyd Rickets of Afton; the daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Simpson of Peru; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Fannie Fitzgerald of Truro; and two brothers, John Rickets of Lorimor and Harry Rickets of Genoa, Neb.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Barney church, in charge of the Rev. J. R. Kruegel, Baptist pastor at Lorimor. Burial will be made in the Barney cemetery.
