REN PETTY HODSON

Ren Petty Hodson, the daughter of W. P. and Ida Petty was born April 3, 1890 in What Cheer, Iowa. She passed away February 6, 1981 at the Earlham Manor Care Center where she had lived for several months.

On November 10, 1910 she was united in marriage to Fred H. Hodson. They farmed in the Earlham community until 1937 when they purchased and moved to an acreage in northwest Earlham. In 1962 they retired and moved into Earlham. Fred passed away in 1963. Ren continued to live in their home until last year when failing health required that she move to a nursing home, first in Winterset and then in Earlham.

Ren was a member of the Earlham Methodist Church since 1916 and was an active member of the U.M.W. until her health failed. She served as recording secretary of the U.M.W. for seven years.

She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge since 1924 and the Rebekah Auxiliary in Stuart, Iowa. Ren served in all the offices of both lodges.

Survivors include two sister-in-laws, and 13 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and husband.

Services were conducted at the Earlham United Methodist church on February 9, 1981. Rev. Walter Sieck officiated the services.

Music was provided by Mrs. Gretchen Brittain, organist. Casket bearers were Robert Hodson, George Jensen, Harold Klett, Paul Mark, Lyman Oaks, Glen Stegall, Bill Young and Jim Welch.

Interment was in the Earlham Cemetery. Professional services by McKee Funeral Homes of Earlham and Dexter.
