Edward C. Hircock, Earlham

Edward Charles Hircock, 81, of Earlham died July 20, 2000, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 24, at Early Chapel Church of rural Earlham. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery with military rites performed by American Legion Post 158 of Earlham.

Edward Hircock was born Dec. 19, 1918, to Everett A. and Winifred I. (McCoy) Hircock of Madrid. He was a 1936 graduate of Winterset High School. He married Lela Mae Curtis on Aug. 26, 1942, in Liberty, Mo. (Clay County). An Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, he served in the southwest Pacific. Upon his discharge from the Air Corp, he returned to the Earlham area to farm. Ed was a member of the Farmers' Coop Board and the Early Chapel Disciples of Christ Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, an infant brother, a daughter, an infant son and an infant stepgreat-grandson.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Don Hircock and Dale Hircock (wife Dee) both of Earlham; two daughters, Diana Barnett (husband Rich) of Earlham and Peggy Higgins (husband Phil) of Hamilton, Mont.; a sister, Blanche Coffman (husband Daryle) of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham.
