Mrs. Oscar Young, a resident of Madison county for most of her life, died at her home in Webster township on Tuesday of last week after a brief illness. She was 77 years of age.
Mrs. Young was the former Anne Newerf, daughter of Nicholas and Henrietta Newerf, and was born at Pella on Sept. 7, 1865. As a young woman she lived in Winterset. The last 49 years of her life had been spent in Webster township.
She is survived by her husband and three children: The latter are Mrs. Roy Crow, Mrs. Jessie Drake, and Will Young. She also leaves three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Hattie Allgeyer of Winterset, Mrs. Carrie Williams of Marshalltown, Mrs. Charles Handel and Charles Newerf of Winterset, and Fred Newerf of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held last Friday from Anderson's funeral home in charge of the Rev. Arthur Mortenson, pastor of the Winterset Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Wight cemetery.
