Grace Elizabeth Hill, Des Moines

Services for Grace Elizabeth Hill, 87, Des Moines, who died Feb. 17 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Monday, Feb. 20 at the Kale Funeral Home, Truro, with the Rev. Robert W. Kern officiating. Burial was at the Woodland Cemetery in Des Moines.

Born at St. Charles Dec. 26, 1896, she was the daughter of Charles and Alice Anderson Belding. She attended schools in Missouri and married Clarence Hill on Dec. 31, 1913.

She spent most of her lifetime in Des Moines and was a 50-year member of Valley Junction chapter No. 305, Order of the Eastern Star, past state president of the Iowa Society of USD of 1812 and a 50-year member of the White Shrine. She was past president of the Colonial Dames of America, a member of the Abigail Adams chapter of the DAR, a member of the Dames of the Court of Honor, the Social Order of the Beauceant, the New England Women and the DAC. She was also a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Des Moines.

Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Youmans and husband Phillip of Des Moines; a brother, Harold Belding of Arkansas; a granddaughter and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and a brother.
