Margaret M. Hildebrand

Little Margaret M. Hildebrand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Hildebrand, was born on the 14th day of March 1917, and died from the effects of an accident, on Dec. 26, 1920-age 3 years, 9 months and 12 days. The accident which resulted in the death of Margaret occurred Monday Dec. 20, while she was playing with her little sister, Beth Madge. Apparently she fell upon some sharp instrument which penetrated the eye and possibly the tissues of the brain. For a few days, the wound seemed to be under control, but blood poisoning and lock jaw developed and the end soon came.

The immediate relatives who survive Margaret are her father and mother, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Hildebrand; Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Huss, north of Winterset; and great grandparents as follows: Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Miller, living here and Mrs. Martha Barrows. Besides these, there are a number of uncles and aunts, together with many relatives.

With the death of a little child there comes a mingled joy and sorrow. There is that sorrow that comes with the realization of parting, but joy supreme and unspeakable in the assurance that the destiny of the child is absolute and certain. Nothing is taught more plainly in the Word of God than that the child is the one perfectly innocent gift from the hand of God. Jesus himself said: "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven." There is, therefore, no doubt and no questions. We know positively that our Lord takes the little ones unto himself because of their unaccountability. They are with Him and we rejoice in their supreme safety.

The funeral was held from the Church of Christ, Dr. N. C. Carpenter officiating. Burial was made in the Rock City cemetery.
