FRED WAKEFIELD Died Here June 5

Fred E. Wakefield, a well-known farmer in the Hebron and Macksburg communities, died Tuesday, June 5, 1973, at Madison Manor south in Winterset. He was 81 years of age.

Mr. Wakefield was born in Adair county Jan. 15, 1892, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Wakefield. He moved with his parents to Nebraska in 1916. They farmed in Boyd county there until 1944, when they returned to Adair county. He continued in active farming until 1970, when he retired. In 1972 he moved to the custodial home in Winterset.

Mr. Wakefield was a veteran of World War I.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Frank Hastings of Scranton; and a brother, Harold Wakefield of Winterset. Funeral services were held Thursday from the Bickford-Murray Funeral home in Greenfield, conducted by the Rev. Charles Updike, pastor of the Winterset Foursquare church. Burial was made in the Greenfield cemetery.
