MAUDE M. HIATT DIED ON MONDAY

Was Former School Teacher At St. Charles and Peru

Mrs. Maude Hiatt of Winterset, a former school teacher at Peru and St. Charles, died Monday July 31, at a nursing home here. She was 77 years of age.

Mrs. Hiatt was born in Madison county, Feb. 24, 1890, a daughter of A. T. and Jane Hogg Dowler. She attended Highland Park college in Des Moines, and served as a teacher in the schools at Peru and St. Charles.

She was married March 8, 1915, to Warren E. Hiatt. His death occurred in 1940.

Nearest surviving relatives are a daughter, Mrs. Woodwor Haymond of El Cerrito, Calif.; and a brother, A. C. Dowler of St. Charles. A sister and three brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. this Thursday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Everett K. Burham, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial will be made in the Peru cemetery.
