Thursday, October 31, 1974Goldie Mae Schwaderer, daughter of Viola Thomas and Arthur Allen, was born in Dallas County, Iowa, on January 10, 1897. She passed away at her home, in Earlham, Iowa, on Sunday, October 27, 1974, having reached the age of 77 years, 9 months and 17 days.
On June 22, 1915, Goldie Allen and Ed Schwaderer were united in marriage, and while raising a family they lived in and around Guthrie Center. On August 20, 1972, they moved into their new home in Earlham.
In both communities Goldie was active in church groups. She joined the Christian Church in Guthrie Center on October 5, 1924. While living in Guthrie Center she was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship, taking part in both the General and Circle meetings. Since moving to Earlham she has been active in the Missionary Society of the Friends Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and twin sisters in infancy.
To mourn her passing she leaves her husband Ed of Earlham; her three children: Mrs. Ivyl (Lela) Slaybaugh of Earlham, Carroll of Ankeny, and Carl of Guthrie Center. She also is survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. To mourn her passing she also leaves her sisters: Mrs. Ethel Davis of Stuart, Mrs. Ruth Breheny of West Des Moines, Mrs. Geo. (Myrtle) Trindle of Van Meter, and Mrs. Leo (Ione) Whisler of Gilmore City. Her brothers left to mourn are Henry Allen of West Des Moines, and Virgil and Oral Allen both of Van Meter.
Services were held at the First Christian Church, Guthrie Center, on Tuesday, October 29, 1974, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Jerry D. Palmer officiated with burial being in Union Cemetery, Guthrie Center.
