CLARENCE J. FEGUSON

Clarence J., son of Wells and Jacobina Feguson was born near Audubon, Iowa, July 11, 1902. They soon moved to Exira where Clarence started to school. They later moved to a farm near Atlantic and he attended the Wiota schools, graduating from the Wiota high school in 1920. They then came to the Garrett farm in Adair county just over the Madison county line, and two years later moved to the Maple Grove neighborhood in Madison county. Clarence then went to work for the Northwestern Bell Telephone company, part of the time in Des Moines, where he was in the drafting department.

He was married to Lela Hindman December 2, 1924, and to them one child, Gleason Star, now 3-1/2 years old, was born.

After their marriage they lived one year in Des Moines and later were several months in Kansas City where Clarence attended an auto school. He returned to Winterset and was engaged for some time in auto work and then they moved to Cherokee. At the end of a year tuberculosis developed and he went to Colorado for his health. He soon had to go into a sanitarium in that state. He gained a little at times but became worse a few months ago and passed away in a Colorado Springs sanitarium on April 11, 1931, at the age of 28 years and nine months.

Clarence united with the Maple Grove church in 1922 and later he transferred his membership to the Oak Grove Evangelical church. He was active in all church work and had a sincere faith in Christ. He was conscientious in his relationship to God and his fellowmen.

In the sanitarium they never had a patient who was loved more. The other patients, the nurses and the doctors all expressed their appreciation of him and loved him for his patient kindness and thoughtfulness to others.

He leaves beside his wife and son, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Ferguson of Futon, Mo., four brothers and one sister: James of Grand Junction, Colorado; George of Chicago, Ferdinand of New York City, Frank and Ada in the home at Fulton; besides many friends.

Rev. W. B. Tarr, of Oak Grove conducted the services at Tidrick’s funeral home Wednesday afternoon, April 15, and burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
