Herschel Dale Hester Jr., 53, of Des Moines died of cancer July 23, 1998, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
The body was cremated and memorial services were held Saturday, July 25, at Epworth United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Interment was at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Herschel Hester was a lifelong Des Moines resident. He was a truck driver with Nabisco Brands Inc. and a member of the Teamsters.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen; one son, Paul of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Jodi Baier of Correctionville; his parents, Herschel Sr. and Jessie Hester of Winterset; two sisters, Margaret Thomas of Winterset and Brenda Slaybaugh of Granger; and two grandchildren.
