Laura Hess, Winterset

A funeral service was held Thursday, July 8, at Collins Funeral Home for Laura May Hess of Winterset, who died July 4 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She was 71 years old.

Born Dec. 22, 1910 in Union county, she was the daughter of Frank and Ruth Denton Smith.

On July 20, 1929 she married Glen W. Hess in Winterset. Mr. Hess died in 1974.

Mrs. Hess was a homemaker, living most of her life in Madison county and attending the Foursquare Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Everett and Clarence. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Wood of Wichita; a brother, Lee Smith of Winterset; and 3 grandchildren.

Rev. Charles Updike officiated at the funeral service. Burial was in Clark Cemetery.
