William Herzog, Winterset

Funeral services for William Glenn Herzog, 76, were held Fri. June 28 at Coen-Beatty Funeral Home, Creston, with the Rev. John Shaull of Winterset officiating. Masonic services were also held. Mr. Herzog died June 25 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines.

Born in Mount Etna October 16, 1914 to William and Nellie (Waldron) Herzog, he moved to Winterset from Kent 12 years ago. He married Nellie H. Mikkelson November 3, 1940 in Davenport. He lived in Davenport after his marriage until moving to Kent in 1946. He operated a hardware store in Kent until going to work for the Creston Farmers Coop Lumber, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Canby Masonic Lodge in Cromwell and Kent Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.

Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Pat Dwyer and husband, Gary of Winterset, Sandy Johnson and husband, Phil of Ames, Linda Reames of Des Moines, and Kathy Thiem and husband, Bob, of Lincoln, Neb.; a son, Bob of Bethany, Mo.; a sister, Lois Gibson of Creston; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Graceland Cemetery, Creston. A memorial has been established in his name.
