CHARLENE WALTERS, Maple City

Charlene Walters, 82, formerly of Jonesville, Mich, died Feb. 6, 2000, at Maple Valley Nursing Home in Maple City, Mich.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Countryside Bible Church in Jonesville with the Rev. John Lillie officiating.

Charlene Walters was born Aug. 19, 1917, to Given D. and Gertrude (Peterson) Jackson of Earlham. She was a graduate of Earlham High School and the University of Iowa and had been a school teacher in the Reading High School District (Michigan) for 17 years. She married Wilbur "Bill" Walters on Dec. 30, 1952. She also was the co-owner of Walters Wonderful World of Sweets in Jonesville. Charlene was a member of the Countryside Bible Church in Jonesville.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Griffith (husband Jerry) of Canton, Mich., Kris Send (husband Bob)of Suttons Bay, Mich., and Connie Mann (husband James) of Jonesville; one son, Greg Walters of Piqua, Ohio; six grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and one step great-grandaughter.
