LYLA I. WALLER, Winterset

Lyla I. Waller, 78, of Winterset died of cancer Oct. 27, 1999, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 1, at Ochiltree Funeral Services in Winterset. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery.

Lyla Waller was born June 21, 1921, to Charles R. and Mabel (Hess) Clarke of rural St. Charles. A graduate of St. Charles High School, she married William Harold Waller on Oct. 20, 1940, in Bethany, Mo. Lyla was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. In 1971, she and her husband retired from farming and moved to Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by two sons, William Waller (wife Barbara) of Oskaloosa and Kenneth Waller (wife Katherine) of Johnston; five sisters, Edna Shreves Keeton of St. Charles, Norma Lunnon of Fullerton, Calif., Cleo Roby of Red Oak, Dorothea Edmunds of Anaheim, Caif., and Judy Bedwell of Truro; four brothers, Charles Clarke, Jr. of Beatrice, Neb., Norman Clarke of Norwalk, Phillip Clarke of Osceola and Jerry Clarke of Truro; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
