November 1978Services For MELVIN WALLACE, SR. On Monday
Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 30, at 1:30 p.m. from Macksburg Methodist Church for Melvin Dwayne Wallace, Sr., 56, of Macksburg, who died Saturday, October 28, 1978, at his home.
Mr. Wallace was born in Rockwell City, Iowa, on December 12, 1921, the son of Ova Gilmore and Mary Oreen Eyerly Wallace. His marriage to Marian Lorene McKinzie took place June 10, 1939, in Missouri. She survives her husband.
Mr. Wallace retired in 1977 from work as a school custodian. He was also a truckdriver and restaurant owner. He was a resident of the Macksburg area most of his life, a veteran of the U. S. Army in World War II and affiliated with the Macksburg Methodist Church.
Mr. Wallace was also a member of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah Lodges.
Survivors include his wife, Marian; three daughters, Louise (Mrs. John) Peckham of Macksburg, Patricia (Mrs. Bill) Hesselgren of Craig, Colorado and Charlotte (Mrs. Terry) Brown of Macksburg; a brother, Gene C. Wallace of Winterset and a sister, Mary Lou McKeon of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren.
Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Officiating at Monday's funeral was Rev. John Ackerman with I.O.O.F. graveside services by Grand River Lodge No. 406. Burial was made at the Moon Cemetery.
