Helen Grandfield, 85, of Dayton, Iowa, and formerly of Winterset, died Friday, July 7, 2006, at the Grandview Care Center in Dayton.

Helen and John lived and farmed in the Lorimor area for over 20 years. In 1966, they moved the family to the Dayton area where they lived for eight years before moving to Winterset, which is where they called home for 30 years.

Helen was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lorimor. She had recently belonged to the United Methodist Women of Dayton. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Helen is survived by four sons, John C. (Mary) Grandfield of Antioch, Ill., James C. (Sylvia) Grandfield of Concord, N.H., Jack C. Grandfield of Grand Junction, Iowa, and Daniel F. (Mary Jo) Grandfield of Rockwell City, Iowa; one daughter, Sheryl (Jim) Ainslie of Dayton; a sister, Lucille Ewing of Palm Coast, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Scott Knoch of Atchison, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
