CRESSLEY D. WELTY, Indianola

Services for Cressley D. Welty, 86, Indianola, a retired teacher, who died April 15, 1986 at his home, were held at Petersons Funeral Home in Indianola April 18 with Rev. Todd Yeaton officiating. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens near Des Moines.

Born Jan. 4, 1900 in the Oak Grove Community of Madison County, he was the son of John A. and Ida F. Ellsbury Welty. He graduated Macksburg schools and attended Iowa State Teachers College.

Mr. Welty taught in serveral schools in eastern Iowa, later returning to teach in both Patterson and Peru.

He was married to Blanche Boren in 1942 and they lived in Winterset until 1952 when they retired to their farm north of Indianola. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Julia O'Brien of Missouri and Nelson Welty.
