Clay Pat Huffman, born September 14, 1872, on the old Huffman farm south of Winterset, quietly departed this life at the home of his nephew, Walker Huffman at 5 o'clock on the afternoon of February 9, 1932. Pat was the next to the youngest of a family of twelve children, the son of John B. and Amanda Huffman.

At the age of twenty years he located in Adair county, where he farmed and made a home for his mother and his nephew, Walker. In 1907 they moved to Winterset where the mother died. It was Pat's privilege to share his home with his nephew for 37 years.

His sweet disposition won many friends for himself. He radiated cheer and sunshine. He was not given to complaint, although at times he must have suffered keenly from the ravages of rheumatism. The Christ whom he accepted in early manhood was his source of comfort and joy, during his affliction. He found delight in reading God's word.

The place which Pat filled in the home of his nephew's family will be vacant, yet the memories of a faithful advisor and loveable companion will be cherished.

At the age of 59 years, 4 months and 24 days, Pat Huffman leaves this earth to enter life eternal with his maker, his God and his Heavenly father.

Mourning his departure are two sisters, Mary E. Bardrick of Indianola and Emma Bird of Des Moines. Three brothers: George of Winterset, Warren of Pacific Beach, California and John of Omaha, Nebraska. His nephew, Walker Huffman and family, also Mary Kingaman and Esther Haymond who are his nieces, having lived near him most of his life-time. Besides these there are other relatives and a host of admiring friends.

Interment was made in the Wight cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. W. B. Tarr of Oak Grove Evangelical church.
