Page 7Death Of Mrs. James Diggs
Mrs. James Diggs who has been seriously ill for the past week, died at her home on East Benton Street Wednesday morning about 8:30 o'clock. She was 78 years of age and became ill with a heavy cold several weeks ago. Heart trouble developed causing her death.
Mrs. Diggs has been a resident of Winterset and this community for the past 45 years.
Mr. Diggs died twelve years ago and since that time she has been making her home with her son, William.

Thursday, February 18, 1932Jane Cooper Diggs, daughter of Joe and Ethel Lendy Cooper, was born in Indiana on March 31, 1853 and died at her home in Winterset on February 10, 1932, aged 78 years, 8 months and 10 days.
The family moved from Indiana to West Virginia returning to Indiana where she was united in marriage to James Diggs. To this union nine children were born, her husband passed away twelve years ago last September.
She leaves to mourn her departure, William, George and Bob of Winterset; Leonard of Des Moines, and Mrs. Clara O'Hara and Mrs. Alta Handy of Spencer. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Ida Grout, two brothers, Bill and Frank Cooper of Winterset, 21 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
At the age of 14 years she joined the United Brethren church. She has been a resident of Winterset and this community for the past 45 years.
The Rev. H. L. Olmstead, pastor of the Church of Christ conducted her funeral services Friday afternoon, February 12th at 2 o'clock and burial was made in the Union Chapel cemetery.
