Luella Means Heizer, wife of the Rev. Forest Alexander Heizer, a former Prebytherian pastor, died at her home, in San Francisco, on July 15, at the age of 87 years. death resulted from a stroke suffered on April 5.
Mrs. Heizer was born Luella Means, June 19, 1877 in Winterset, fifth of seven children, born to Lewis Foster and Anna Weeks Means. She was the last of the family to pass on.
She was married Jan. 22, 1902 to Mr. Heizer and was his co-worker for the 41 years of their Christian ministry in Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas.
They had four children, two dying in infancy. Surviving are two sons; Hughes Andrew Heizer of Natchez, Mississippi and Joseph John Heizer, Th.D., of San Francisco. She made her home with the latter son during the last 12 years of her life.
As a girl Mrs. Heizer attended the local District School, Macksburg High School and the Afton Normal and Business College. She became a teacher in the rural schools of Union County, and later attended Simpson college at Indianola, Iowa.
She was admitted to the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as descendant of Revolutionary soldier and patriot, Andrew Means, Sr.
Funeral services were held in the Church of Christ at Lorimor on July 19, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Thomas Murr officiating. Burial was with her husband, children in the family plot in the Lorimor cemetery
