HERBERT HEICHEL DIES AT 80 YEARS

Was Life-Long Resident of Adair and Madison Counties

Herbert S. Heichel of Winterset, a life-long resident of Adair and Madison counties, died Saturday, Jan. 1, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 80 years of age.

Mr. Heichel was born in Adair county Oct. 24, 1885, a son of Henry G. and Catherine Watts Heichel. He was married March 19, 1913 at Pitzer to Blanche Linn. They established their home in Madison county.

His active life was spent in farming until this fall when failing health forced his retirement, at which time he had moved to Winterset.

He was a member of the Congregational Christian church at Fairview.

Mr. Heichel is survived by his wife; two sons, Harold Heichel of Winterset and Floyd Heichel of Dexter; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Lenna Moyle of Aberdeen, S. Dak., and Mrs. Ennie Ackerman of Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. George Thurman of Stuart.

Burial was made in Winterset cemetery.

Herbert Sylvester Heichel was born in Adair county on October 24, 1885, son of Henry G. Heichel and Catherine Watts Heichel. His entire life was spent in Adair and Madison counties where he was engaged in farming.

On March 19, 1913 he was married to Blanche Linn at the Pitzer Presbyterian Manse. They established a home in Madison county. To this union were born two sons, Harold of Winterset, and Floyd of Dexter. Early in life he was baptized in the Christian faith. Later he became a member of Congregational Christian church of Fairview.

Because of failing health this fall, he retired and moved to Winterset. He passed away Jan. 1, 1966 at Madison county Memorial hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 3, at Collins Funeral Home and burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

He was a kind and generous father, a good neighbor, always willing to help others in time of need.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also two sisters, Mrs. Lenna Moyle of Aberdeen, S. Dak. And Mrs. Hattie Ackerman of Rochester, Minn., other relatives and friends.
