EUGENE WALTZ, Winterset

Eugene L. Waltz, 79, of Winterset died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Jan. 16, 2003, at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 20, at he First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with Pastor Jim Howland officiating.

Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Gene Waltz was born Jan. 36, 1923, in Winerset to Luie E. and Lucy L. (Averille) Waltz. On July 1, 1945, he married Rosie Fleener at the Methodist parsonage in Winterset. A lifelong area resident, he had worked for Penn Dixie as a truck driver, Winterset Utilities and Farmers Elevator. Gene was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Coon Hunters Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Gene Waltz; three sisters, Ruby Remirez, Annabelle Hutt and Janice Foley; and three brothers, Wallace Waltz, Donald Waltz and Lloyd Waltz.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie, of Winterset; a sister, Marjorie Quesenberry of Des Moines; and two brothers, Myles Waltz and John Waltz, both of Des Moines.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare of Winterset.
