MRS. S. A. HAYS IS CALLED BY DEATH

Wife of Winterset Attorney Dies After Long Period of Failing Health

Mrs. Stephen A. Hays, wife of the well-known Winterset attorney, died at her home here Monday. For a number of years she had been in declining health. She was 68 years of age.

Mrs. Hays was the former Elsie Tidrick, member of a prominent family, long identified with the history of Winterset. She was born in Winterset on December 25, 1867, was reared here and during her life this community was her home.

She was married to Stephen A. Hays in her family home on June 8, 1892. They were the parents of four children, Mrs. Louise M. Cole and Guy M. Hays of Pipestone, Minnesota, Harry G. Hays of Winterset and Mrs. Gladys T. Gamble of Swan.

In addition to her husband and the children, Mrs. Hays leaves 16 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Tidrick Moore of Dayton, Ohio.

Funeral services were held from the Tidrick Funeral home yesterday (Wednesday) in charge of the Rev. W. P. Fink, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Pall bearers were Howard Phillips of Ames, Harold Gamble of Swan, Fred Ramsey of Council Bluffs, George Tidrick of Des Moines and Fred Hudson and Clarence Tidrick of Winterset.
