J. W. PERKINS, Urbandale

Services for J. W. "Bill" Perkins, 61, Urbandale, who died of cancer at his home on Wednesday, March 18, 1987, were held Saturday, March 21, at Crestwood Baptist Church. Burial was at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Perkins was born in Martensdale and had lived in Des Moines for 50 years. He retired in 1986 as a laboratory technician at Monarch Cement Co. He was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church, Pioneer Masonic Lodge 22, Order of Eastern Star, Valley of Des Moines, Scottish Rite Bodies, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Temple and United Cement, Lime & Gypsum Allied Workers Local 287.

In World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.

Survivors include his wife, the former Jean Tucker of Macksburg; sons, Stephen Craig of Louisville, Ky., and Mark Allen of Branson, Mo.; a sister, Aurolyn Coover of Des Moines; brothers, Duane E. of Rock Island, Ill., and Gordon L. of Des Moines; and two grandchildren.
