Arthur E. Hayes, Sr., Winterset

Graveside services for Arthur E. Hayes Sr., 77, Winterset, who died Feb. 25 at the Winterset Care Center North where he resided, were held at Mt. Pelier Cemetery Feb. 28 with the Rev. David Bauer officiating.

Born in Muscatine County on Aug. 1, 1909, he was the son of Daniel and Martha Johnson Hayes. He was a retired carpenter for Sivyer Steel in Bettendorf and was a World War II Navy Air Corps veteran. He had lived in Winterset since 1983.

Survivors include sons, Arthur Jr. of rural Patterson and Ronald of Davenport; a brother, Clifford of Oskaloosa; sisters, Deloris Tompkins of Fruitland and Ethel Fowlie of Muscatine; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
