Services for Velma L. Hathaway, 74, Patterson, who died Feb. 22, at the Des Moines General Hospital, were held Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the Patterson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. Burial was at Mt. Pelier Cemetery.
Born at Earlham on Oct. 19, 1911, she was the daughter of Harvey and Minnie Haxtom. She worked as a cook and also for a Des Moines insurance company.
Mrs. Hathaway lived in Madison county since 1949.
Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Minnie Cook of Caldwell, Idaho; sons, Harold Hathaway of Altoona, James Spencer of Davenport, Donald Spencer of Davenport and Wessley Spencer of Kansas City, Mo.; daughters, Barbara Whisler of Bettendorf and Pauline Spencer Beesom of Aurora, Colo.; a brother Wilbur Beesom of Diamond City, Ark.; a sister, Alta Tice of Caldwell, Idaaho, and Opal Duff of Johnbay, Ore.; and 23 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
