Maurice R. Hassel, Des Moines

Services for Maurice R. Hassel, 72, were held May 22 at Southtown Funeral Home Chapel, Des Moines. He died Sun. May 19 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines.

Born in Winterset, he moved to Des Moines in 1941. He retired as assistant controller for Rock Island Motor Transit, was a member of Fort Des Moines Church of Christ and was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two sons, Larry and Jerry, both of Des Moines; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Des Moines.
