John Melville Gowdey, son of Melville and Dorothy Gowdey, was born December 24, 1945 in Des Moines, and passed away Sunday, August 18, 1946 at the Raymond Blank Memorial Hospital, after a few hours illness, at the age of 7 months and 24 days.

He was an only child. Surviving are his parents, his maternal grandfather, R. T. Darden of Abilene, Tex.; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gowdey of Des Moines; his great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cook of Earlham; four uncles and two aunts, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Bear Creek church. Rev. John McCracken had charge of the services. The music was by Alma Mapes and Gertrude Conrad, accompanied by Berneice Hadley.
