Phyllis Harper, Winterset

A funeral service was held Saturday, April 10, at Collins Funeral Home for Phyllis Harper of Winterset, who died at Madison County Memorial Hospital on April 6. She was 76 years old.

Born Aug. 10, 1905 in Hardy, Iowa, she was the daughter of Stewart and Alta Howland Foley.

On May 16, 1925 she married Maynard Harper in Des Moines. Mr. Harper died in 1973.

Mrs. Harper lived most of her life in Madison county, working at Horton's and Peterson's Nursing Homes. She also was employed by Look Magazine, retiring as a clerical worker. She attended the Methodist Church and was a member of the Social Circle Club of Peru.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Mike Harper of St. Charles, Maynard Harper Jr. of Peru and Bill Harper of Truro; a brother, Floyd Foley of Hermann, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Rev. David Livingston officiated at the funeral service. Burial was in Peru Cemetery.
