Funeral services were held Tuesday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset for Maynard L. Harper, Sr. of Peru.
A life-long resident of Madison county, Mr. Harper died July 29 at Madison County Memorial hospital. He was 73 years of age.
A son of Wheatly and Pearl Powell Harper, he was born Dec. 13, 1899 on a farm in Walnut township near Barney.
He was married to Phyllis Foley on May 16, 1925, at Des Moines. Mr. Harper was a retired farmer.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic church and the Woodman Lodge.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Michael Harper of St. Charles, Maynard Harper, Jr. of Peru and Bill Harper of Truro; also 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Rosary for Mr. Harper was recited Monday evening at Collins Funeral Home. Officiating at the requiem mass Tuesday morning was the Rev. John Hart of St. Joseph church. Burial was in the Peru cemetery.
