Helen M. King, 98, died December 30, 2004 at Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement Catholic Church in Cumming, Iowa with interment at St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement Cemetery in Cumming, Iowa.
Helen was born March 14, 1906 in Conway, Iowa. She had lived in Cumming for 66 years. She was a 1927 graduate of Drake University. Helen was a retired school teacher. She taught in a one room schoolhouse in Madison, Warren and Taylor counties. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post 562 and the Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, baking, cooking and had worked on her family’s farm.
She will be missed by her children, Robert (Janice) King of Norwalk, Iowa, Mary (John) Moore of Kent, Iowa, Paul (Rena) King of Cumming, Iowa, Ruth Wilson of Des Moines, Iowa, John (Cheryl) King of Independence, Missouri, Tom (Carol) King of Cumming, Iowa, Helen (Norm) Sabol of Moline, Illinois, her 28 grandchildren and her 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph King in 1974, her parents, 3 brothers, her son-in-law, granddaughter and a great grandson.
Visitation will be Monday, January 3, 2005 from 5-8-p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church Hall in Cumming, Iowa, will (with) a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Madison County Meal Site or her church
