Marjorie Hardisty, Winterset

Marjorie B. Hardisty, 87, of Winterset died Jan. 20, 2003, of pneumonia at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 24, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with the Revs. Jim Howland and Barry Ensign-George officiating. Burial was at Linn Grove Cemetery, Mt. Vernon.

Marjorie Hardisty was born March 3, 1915, in Linn County to William Henry and Willamina Marie (Risser) Clark. On Jan. 1, 1935, she married Ivan Paul Smith in Linn County. He preceded her in death. On April 18, 1985, she married Forrest Hardisty in Winterset. Marjorie grew up in Linn County, lived in Central City for a few years and then moved to Winterset where she resided for more than 50 years. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and Esther Circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ivan; her second husband, Forrest; and an infant son.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Ann Morris of Des Moines; three sisters, Ruth Armstrong of Mt. Vernon, Jennie Petersen of Bettendorf and Bernice Kohl of Alburnett; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
