C. Lloyd Hannon, Winterset

C. Lloyd Hannon, 78, a longtime resident of Atlantic, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 23 at Winterset Care Center North where he had lived since January 28, 1982.

The son of Charles L. and Elizabeth F. King Hannon, he was born December 30, 1903, near Orient and lived in Adair County until 1936. He graduated from the Orient High School in 1922 and attended Grinnell College for one year.

He was married to Verda A. Givan on April 7, 1927. He was a locker plant operator in Atlantic for 28 years. He was a member of the Hill of Zion Christian Church east of Orient, a lifetime member of the Masonic lodge, a life member of the B.P.O. Elks No. 445 and a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine of Des Moines.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Nellie Maase of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a brother, Don C. Hannon of Winterset and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Verda in 1976, and three daughters, Marjorie Rea and Mary Ruth (twin daughters who died in infancy), Patty Lou at age 17, and a brother, Delbert D. Hannon.
