Death of Mildred Welch

Miss Mildred Welch died at the Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids last Thursday, May 21st. She had been suffering from diphtheria and apparently was recovering when pneumonia developed. Funeral services were conducted by Reverend Dennis Managan at St. Joseph’s church in Winterset Saturday morning at 11:30 o’clock. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

Mildred is survived by her parents and six sisters, Norine and Mary of Des Moines, Velma Welch of Creston and Helen, Gladys and Betty at home.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Welch and was born in Pleasant Valley township, Johnson county, April 8, 1911. She was baptized in the Catholic Chapel at Cedar Rapids by Father Churchill. She came to Madison county at the age of two years with her parents, attending school at Winterset. She has been employed for the past two years in Des Moines, excepting the past two months in Cedar Rapids.
