Mary Benjamin-Hamilton

Mary Loretta Benjamin-Hamilton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Benjamin, was born near Delmar, Clinton county, Iowa, Dec. 24, 1880 and died in Winterset, Iowa, March 9, 1918.

When about eleven years of age, she was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church. A few years later she joined the Y.W.C.A. and the Rebekahs. When seventeen years of age, she moved with her parents to Indianola, where she attended Simpson college several terms. From here she moved to Jackson township, Madison county, and then to Winterset, where she worked at the millinery business; afterward in the same work, in several towns, one, Glenwood, where she met and married C. O. Hamilton.

She leaves to mourn her departure, a husband, two small children, one about three years old, the other an infant babe only a few days old; father, mother, two brothers, David of this place and Orrin of South Dakota; a sister, Mrs. George McCorkle of Jackson township, this county and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church March 14th and interment made in Winterset cemetery.
