Opal E. Wearmouth, 99, died of a heart ailment Feb. 8, 2002, at Winterset Care Center North

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the Rev. Bill Banson officiating. Burial was at the Lorimor Cemetery.

Opal Wearmouth was born May 8, 1902, to Lawson A. and Sarah (Harris) Eldridge. She attended college in Cedar Falls, graduating with a teaching degree. She taught school until her marriage to Thomas E. Wearmouth on May 8, 1928. Opal a resident of Madison County for most of her life, was a member of the Kasson Friendship Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister.

She is survived by two sons, Dale Wearmouth (wife Ava) of Lorimor and Russell Wearmouth (wife JoAnne) of Perry; a daughter, Norma Winkler (husband Paul) of Corning; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Eldridge of Jefferson; nine grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
