Services for Frieda L. Hamand, 72, Winterset, who died Aug. 29 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Aug. 31 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Zona L. Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery.
Born at Peru Dec. 27, 1912, she was the daughter of John and Laura Woods Farr. She was married to Leo C. Hamand on March 15, 1931 in Missouri.
With her husband, Mrs. Hamand operated a general store in Peru and she also worked as an auction clerk in Cedar Falls and as a store clerk at Graves apparel store in Winterset.
A lifetime resident of Madison County, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset and the Eastern Star Lodge in Truro.
Survivors include a son, Joe Hamand of West Des Moines; a brother, Gene Farr of Long Island, N.Y.; sisters, Lorraine Joy of Perry and Gertrude Simmons of Winterset; and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a sister.
