Mrs. George E. Standing died at her home in Earlham, Tuesday, November 7 at the age of 87 years. She had been in declining health for a number of years.

Funeral services were held at the Friends church, Thursday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. W. H. Wilson, Ella Newlin, and Alvin Hoskins conducted the services. Fred and Helen Fry sang, Mrs. Gertrude Conrad played. Burial was made in the Bear Creek Cemetery.

The oldest of nine children of Alfred Augustine and Rebecca Phillips Nicholson, Sarah was born August 14, 1857 in Brighton, Sussex, England. While persuing her own education she shared at times with her father in his public work and finding occassional opportunity to assist in local Sunday School and church activities. A few years after coming to America she was united in marriage with George E. Standing, January 29, 1891. The new home was established on the farm near Earlham, Iowa. There the three children were born and there they continued to make their home till retiring to the present home in Earlham 21 years ago.

After a number of years in declining health she quietly fell asleep in her home in Earlham, November 7, 1944, having passed the milestone of four score and seven years.

Three sisters and one brother and the youngest son, Wilfred George, having passed away, she is survived by her husband, George E. Standing, one son, Alcred E. and his wife Aenita and their daughter, Jean, and the daughter, Ethel Sarah, all of Earlham; three sisters: Mary Alice Standing of Earlham, Frences Standing of Beaumont, California, and Maria Yole of Rochester, New York; one brother, Arthur L. Nicholson of Sewell, New Jersey, and many other relatives and friends.
