1980Services For Dr. Gubser
Dr. Darwin E. Gubser, son of Dr. Nicholas and Eva Gubser, was born in Earlham, on April 17, 1921, and died in Youngtown, Arizona, Dec. 19, 1980.
As a youth he attended Earlham School and graduated from high school with the class of 1939. He then entered Iowa State University at Ames and graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine.
Following in his father's profession, he practiced in Earlham for a number of years and was known by everyone as "Doc". He then moved to Sun City, Arizona, where he practiced a few years. Due to declining health, he retired from active practice.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; two daughters, Mrs. Sherry Joyner of Percival, Iowa and Mrs. Darcey Paullin of Winterset; and four grandchildren.
He is also survived by four step-children; Larry Apple of Maryville, Mo., Kirk Apple and Bill Apple of Earlham, and Mrs. Barbara Nevitt of Perry, Iowa; and eight step-grandchildren.
Memorial services are to be held at the Earlham Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Dec. 27, at 2:00 p.m.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions be made to the Heart or Lung Associations.
