Mrs. M. V. Vandeburg passed away at her home in Cove, Ark., at noon on Tuesday, being 74 years of age. Mrs. Vandeburg fell a few weeks ago, sustaining injuries which later developed into a dropsical condition, and the past two weeks had failed rapidly.

Besides the husband, she leaves three sons and three daughters by a former marriage: Frank and Arch W. Wight, Mrs. D. W. Short and Mrs. Geo. Shaw of this county; Claude Wight of California and Mrs. S. C. Liner of Cove, Ark.

Mrs. Vandeburg was a daughter of John Ettien, a pioneer settler of Webster township, and spent the greater part of her life in Madison county.

The body will be brought here and burial made in the Wight cemetery.

Susan Cordelia Ettien was born at Burlington, Iowa, February 16th, 1851, and passed away at her home in Cove, Arkansas, June 9th, 1925, having reached the age of 74 years, 3 months and 23 days. When four years of age her home was transferred to Madison county, Iowa, where she lived for many years.

She was united in marriage on April 1st, 1869, to George W. Wight. To this marriage seven children were born, all of whom are living with the exception of Mrs. Lillie Hart, who died two years ago. Early in life she united with the United Evangelical church. Upon moving to Winterset she united with the M. E. church and remained a member of that denomination until her death.

She was again united in marriage to M. V. Vandeburg, who survives her.

Three sons and three daughters with their families deeply mourn the loss of a true mother. These are Mrs. Myrtle Short; Archie Wight, Frank Wight and Mrs. Edna Shaw, of Iowa; Mrs. Susie Liner, of Arkansas, and Claude Wight, of California.

The funeral was held at the Oak Grove church Friday, June 12th, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton, of Winterset. The interment was in the Wight cemetery.
