A memorial service for Garnet H. Weed, 85, of Rochester, Minn. was held Fri., Nov. 9 at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Dr. Clemmet A. Peterson officiating. Mrs. Weed died Mon., Nov. 5, 1990 of natural causes at her Charter House home.
She was born Garnet Holman on November 3, 1905, in Brewster, Minn., graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1923, and received her bachelor of science degree from Simpson College in Indianola, in 1927. She taught English and Latin at Boyden High School in Boyden. On August 29, 1928, she married Lyle A. Weed in Chicago. The couple lived in Cleveland, Ohio, Iowa City and Indianapolis before coming to Rochester in 1945. Mrs. Weed was a homemaker, and she was a member of the League of Women Voters, United Methodist Women and Friends of the Library. Her husband was a physician at Mayo Clinic and deputy health officer with the Olmsted County Health Department. He died January 25, 1983.
Survivors include her daughter, Flora W. Ingalls of Rochester; two sons, Karl F. of Dallas, Tex. and David L. of Phillips, Maine; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor (Mrs. Kenneth) Ritter of Winterset.
