WAYNE LUCAS WELCH, Winterset

Funeral Services for Wayne Lucas Welch, 72, were held Sat., Aug. 31 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Jones and the Rev. John Shaull officiating. Mr. Welch died August 28, 1991, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.

A lifetime Madison County resident, he was born November 14, 1918 to Earl and Mabel May (Lucas) Welch. He married Rena Blanche Hircock June 14, 1942 in Princeton, Mo. He was a retired farmer and was involved in livestock and grain trucking for many years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, Madison County Sportsman's Club, Winterset Co-op and a past member and trustee of Pitzer Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Richard Duane and wife, Ruth, of Casa Grande, Ariz. and Ronald Wayne and wife, Connie, of Winterset; a daughter, Roxanne Johnston and husband, Tom, of Winterset; a brother, Roland of Winterset; three sisters, Mary Jane Nair and Helen Berry, both of Winterset and Betty Cumings of Prole; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
