MRS. WALT GRAY DIED ON TUESDAY

Death Occurs After Long Illness at Memorial Hospital

Mrs. Walter Gray, a well-known resident of Winterset, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Madison county Memorial hospital after an extended period of failing health. She was 72 years of age.

Mrs. Gray was born Feb. 16, 1889 at Commerce, but the last 69 years of her life were spent in Madison county. She was the former Edith May Hartman, daughter of William and Laura Smith Hartman.

She was a member of the First Baptist church of Winterset.

She was married April 30, 1904, to Walter T. Gray, who survives her. In addition to her husband, she leaves three sons, James T. Gray of Des Moines, Garold D. Gray of Rockford, Ill., and Ray W. Gray of Patterson; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. Their only daughter died at the age of 18 months.

Funeral services will be held this Friday at 2 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home. Burial will be made in the Peru cemetery.
