LINDA WENGER, Winterset

Linda Marie Wenger, 55, of Winterset, died of cancer Oct. 11, 1997 at Madison County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are today at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Jon Gaul officiating the 2 p.m. services. Burial will follow at Winterset Cemetery in Winterset.

She was born in Des Moines on March 29, 1942 to Lamont and Dorothy (LaBron) Thorpe.

On July 22, 1962, she married Raymond Lee Wenger in Winterset. She was a Life Insurance and Annuity Agent and owner of Financial Alternatives. She was a lifetime resident of Madison County. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, After Five Women's Christian Organization, Des Moines Life Underwriters, President of Friends of the Winterset Public Library, Portfolio Partners Investment Club, and the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one uncle. Surviving relatives include her husband, Lee Wenger of Winterset; one daughter Kelly Lynn Hans and husband Randy of Johnston; her step-mother, Mary Thorpe of Winterset; one brother, Larry Thorpe of Belize, Central America; one step-sister, Sharon Huff of Winterset; and two grandchildren.
