FLOYD McKINNEY, Macksburg

Floyd McKinney, 65, of Macksburg died June 24, 2006, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

The family of Mr. McKinney held an inurnment service Tuesday, June 27, at Moon Cemetery in rural Macksburg with the Rev. Sandy Smith officiating.

Floyd McKinney was born March 3, 1941, to Floyd James and Rose (Hathaway) McKinney of St. Charles. On June 3, 1961, he married Carol Ann Bailey at the Lutheran Church in Englewood, Colo. Floyd lived in Macksburg for the past 33 years. Prior to that, he resided in Denver, Colo., and Indianola. He drove a truck for Advanced Drainage Systems, worked for the Macksburg Farmers Coop for several years and was a janitor for the Macksburg School. Most recently, he owned and operated the McKinney Cafe in Macksburg for 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two daughters in infancy, Sheila and Donna; and a sister, Judy Easton.

He is survived by five sons, Floyd McKinney Jr., Robert McKinney and Troy McKinney, all of Macksburg, Todd McKinney of Des Moines, and Wade McKinney of Winterset; a half brother, Charles Stuart of Colorado; a half sister, Amy Stuart of Colorado; and eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in Floyd’s name.

Arrangements were handled by Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service in Creston.

Floyd Kenneth McKinney was born to Rose (Hathaway) and Floyd James McKinney on March 3, 1941, at St. Charles, Iowa. Floyd entered eternal rest on June 24, 2006, at Greater Regional Medical Center, Creston, Iowa, at the age of sixty-five years, three months, and twenty-three days.

On June 3, 1961, Floyd married Carol Ann Bailey at a Lutheran Church in Englewood, Colorado.

Floyd has lived in Macksburg for the past thirty-three years. Prior to that he lived in Denver, Colorado and Indianola. Floyd drove a truck for ADS (Advanced Drainage Systems). He also worked for the Macksburg Farmers Coop for several years and was a janitor for the Macksburg School. Most recently he owned and operated the McKinney Cafe in Macksburg for fifteen years, His hobbies included fishing, hunting and playing cards.

Left to mourn Floyd's passing are his sons: Floyd McKinney, Jr., Macksburg; Robert (wife Alexis) McKinney, Macksburg; Todd McKinney, Des Moines; Troy McKinney, Macksburg; Wade (wife Kelly) McKinney, Winterset; Eight Grandchildren; One Great Granddaughter; his mother-in-law: Shirley Bailey, Macksburg; his half-brother: Charles Stuart of Colorado, and his half-sister: Amy Stuart of Colorado.

Preceding Floyd in death were his parents; his Wife, Carol in January, 2006; Sister: Judy Easton in 1990: and two daughters in infancy: Sheila and Donna.
